The Business Case for Peacebuilding
Author: Anand Patel · February 2026
This policy brief argues that peacebuilding is no longer only a humanitarian or diplomatic concern. It is now an economic and business imperative. As violent conflict reaches historic levels and public institutions come under growing financial strain, companies operating in fragile and high-risk markets face rising threats to assets, supply chains, workers, and long-term investment.
Drawing on ten business and country cases, the brief makes the case for integrating peacebuilding into corporate risk and investment decision-making. It calls for a shift from fragmented, short-term responses toward long-term, country-led systems that can reduce conflict risk, protect business continuity, and support durable economic value.
